Meeting on Advocate Aurora-Atrium merger canceled by Illinois board

The state board’s regularly scheduled Oct. 25 meeting had already been canceled, so the next scheduled meeting is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2022, according to the organization’s website.

In September, the Health Facilities panel first voted to deny the request, then voted to postpone action on the issue. In voting to not accept the request for exemptions, board members cited a lack of specifics about what the joint operating agreement would look like and whether decisions would be made at the local level.

The health systems’ representatives say no money is changing hands and hospital ownership will be retained by the legacy systems, Downers Grove-based Advocate Aurora Health and Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health.

At the Sept. 13 meeting, representatives of Advocate Aurora said they would provide the board with further details.
